The Battered Women and Children’s Shelter has dedicated 37 years to breaking the cycle of family violence by providing life saving services and tools towards the self-sufficiency of victims. Restoring hope and possibilities away from abuse is at the center of its mission.
Kristine Meza’s beautiful young life was cut short at the hands of her ex-boyfriend in 2011. Her family and friends created the Kristine Meza Foundation to provide educational support to victims of domestic violence. The Battered Women & Children’s Shelter of Bexar County and the Kristine Meza Foundation invite you to participate in our annual 5K run/walk to show your support for those affected by domestic violence. On October 16, 2021, at OLLU (Our Lady of the Lake University) as we will stand united against domestic violence. This family event will be held during Domestic Violence Awareness month in which we are dedicated to raising awareness to a social problem that has unfortunately put our lovely community and the county of Bexar on the national map. With your help and participation, we can continue our efforts to STOP THE SILENCE and END THE VIOLENCE!
